Police redirect passengers at the Waterfront Seabus station Thursday in Vancouver. Commuters are urged to stay away from the SeaBus terminal and Lonsdale Quay bus loop, which are closed after a suspicious package was found on North Shore quay.

METRO VANCOUVER -- Commuters are urged to stay away from the SeaBus terminal and Lonsdale Quay bus loop, which are closed after a suspicious package was found on North Shore quay.

North Vancouver RCMP Const. Marlene Morton said police are on scene to investigate the package but would not reveal further details.

"Everyone should stay away from the area," Morton said. "Everything's closed down until we can ensure public safety."

At Waterfront Station in Vancouver, police have cordoned off the SeaBus entrance and were directing passengers to a shuttle bus on Cordova.

The SeaBus is not running between the North Shore and downtown Vancouver until further notice. Coast Mountain Bus has put in bus bridges to get commuters to and from downtown to the Lonsdale Quay. Those coming from the North Shore can catch their bus at Esplanade at the foot of Lonsdale.

Carrie Cates Road and everything South of Esplanade down to the Lonsdale Quay will be closed until further notice.
